Recently popular television channel NBC made fun of Joe Cocker on their program ‘Saturday Night Live’. Comedian John Belushi performed his impression of Joe Cocker live on the air.

Feel sad that Joe Cocker is being made fun of to a national audience. Wish my parents would see the real Joe Cocker and not just this version of him. Seems like John Bushemi is making fun of Joe Cocker because he drinks and does drugs. Seems like he is saying ‘u are going to die soon’ to Joe Cocker.

I’m afraid that next David Brinkley will be doing an impression of Joe Cocker on the NBC nightly news.

Lineup for hippie festival called 'Woodstock' announced

Recently a flier has been circulating with the lineup for a music festival called ‘Woodstock’

Popular musicians Jimmy Hendrix and Janis Joplin are shown as headliners. Not sure if The Who will be upset about not being a headliner, or if the designer didn’t have a picture of them/pete townshend is too ugly.

It is billing itself as an ‘aquarian exposition’ but I’m not even sure what that means. Might just be a marketing tool 2 attract hippies in search ‘something more’. I don’t know why they are calling it ‘woodstock’ and then having it in white lake, ny. Feel like this could be a test/part of the journey to get there. Feel like a lot of stoned peeps will end up in woodstock, ny looking for the music.

Not sure if ne 1 will go to this since it is so far out ‘up the country’(via canned heat).

Hoping that 1 day we can have it on the moon now that we ‘own’ it.

Last weekend 30,000 hippies from all over the country gathered in San Francisco for the ‘human be-in’. Area bands Jefferson Airplane and The Greatful Dead/The Warlocks performed among others.

The main speaker of the event was 47 year old former harvard prof Tim Leary. He has been traveling around the country teaching people about LSD and how 2 ‘turn on/tune in/drop out’.

I feel weird that one of the ‘leaders’ of the hippie movement is the same age as my uncle Jeff. Seems like Leary is going against ‘don’t trust anyone over 30’ (via Jerry Rubin). Worried that Tim Leary could just be using his ‘wise old guru status’ 2 get with ‘young chicks’.

Worried that he might just be having a ‘midlife crisis’. I miss the days when people would have a ‘midlife crisis’ and buy ‘bell bottoms’ and ride around on boats.

Or get a toupee like my uncle Jeff.

Hippie band 'the warlocks' change their name 2 'the greatful dead'

Popular palo alto band ‘the warlocks’ have decided to change their name. They will now be known as ‘the greatful dead.’

According 2 bass player Phil Lesh, they decided on the new name after singer Jerry Garcia found the words randomly in a dictionary:

Jerry found the name spontaneously when he picked up a dictionary and the pages fell open. The words ‘grateful’ and ‘dead’ appeared straight opposite each other across the crack between the pages in unrelated text.”

Feel like this is not the best way 2 name your band. Seems like ‘leaving it up 2 chance’ is risky when trying 2 brand your image.

Worried that they will lose all of their fans who are used to the old warlocks brand. Feel like they might have to ‘reinvent’ themselves and get a whole new ‘fan base’.

Sad that they are going 2 have to buy/make a new drum sign.

Will ‘the greatful dead’ become popular, or is this ‘the end’?

Popular hippie celebrities wearing 'tye die'

Recently a look called ‘tye die’ has been spotted on popular ‘hippie’ celebs like Joe Cocker. It is a multi colored pattern that can be ‘home made’ on a shirt or other fabric.

Thinking about moving 2 San Fran and opening a stand to sell various ‘tye die’ goods. Feel like this could be a way 2 make money/meet ‘flower child hotties’ without ‘learning a mainstream craft’.

Seems 2 be easy enough to make. You crumple up some fabric, die it, and hang it up to dry.

Hope 2 get a hippie celeb like Janis Joplin to wear something I make. This will increase my sales. Worried about how ppl will know it was ‘made by me’.

Should I make ‘tye die’ clothes in ‘plus sizes’ for overweight hippies or should I try 2 only appeal to hot/skinny ones?

Would only making ‘tye die’ in small sizes be going against ‘free love’?

Popular mainstream writer mentions 'Hippies' in newspaper

Mainstream writer Herb Cain wrote an article mentioning the word ‘Hippie’ in the San Francisco Chronicle. He was the same person who wrote about the word ‘beatnik’ in 1958.

He wrote:

Except in their music, they couldn’t care less about the approval of the straight world. And as for the fond notion that there is something especially alluring about the San Francisco tradition, forget it. Our police are more sensitive and understanding? “Fuzz is fuzz,” said one of the hippies.

Seems like the Chronicle is just trying 2 appeal to young ppl. Trying 2 increase their ‘fan base’ so they can make ‘mad cash’. I wish we had a way to get our news besides newspapers/tv.

What’s next? Is Walty Cronkite going to start mentioning ‘hippies’ on TV?

'Furthur' bus spotted near New York City

Recently there have been sightings of the multi-colored bus known as ‘further’ near ‘beatnik’ capital New York City.

It is believed to be driven by popular author Ken Kesey (via 2 kill a mockingbird).

Kesey and his crew known as ‘the merry pranksters’ are said to be ‘getting high’ on something called ‘LSD’ and going on a ‘trip’ across the country. Possibly to rendezvous with some ‘beatnik’ people in nyc.

I want to go on a ‘trip’ and get away from my ‘square’ family. Really wishing for ‘something more’. Feel like I could round up a bunch of my friends/local drug users and drive to new york. Wish I had that ‘sweet book royalty money’ like Kesey to help fund my ‘trip’.

What kind of vehicle should I take a ‘trip’ in

A multi-colored muscle car? Feel like this would fit, but might be hard 2 get the funds.

A euro car like popular actor Cary Grant?

A military tractor? This might help us stay ‘undercover’ when we are learning how to ‘get high’.

A double-decker bus? Feel like this could possibly ‘one up’ Kesey with the extra bus on top.

Wish this was 1997 so we could all take flying cars.

'the feds' decide to put warnings on cigarette packs

Surgeon general Luther Leonidas Terry has issued a report saying cigs are bad for us.

Because of this they are putting this warning label on every pack.

I asked my dad and he says this is ‘BS’. He’s smoked every day since he was 9 and he feels ‘strong as an ox’. He says that the government is trying to scare us and keep us from enjoying ourselves. He says next they will be telling him it’s bad to ‘drink a bottle of whiskey after work and drive home’. Why would the goverment want to lie to us? I feel like maybe Dr. Terry wants 2 stop our fun because he wasn’t accepted by the ‘cool kids’ who smoked when he was younger.

I want to smoke so that I can change my ‘nerd’ image, in2 a ‘tough guy’ image(via rebel without a cause). Not sure how I would do this without smoking.

I just want 2 ‘go steady’ with a girl like this.

Feel like maybe it will be ok if I just smoke ‘camels’ like my doctor.

Or ‘lucky strike’ like Santa(via it’s toasted)

Or ‘Marlboro’ like my little brother

'The Beatles' debut new logo

Popular post skiffle band ‘The Beatles’ unveiled their new logo on a drum during their performance on Easy Beat at the Playhouse Theatre in London.

Local music store owner Ivoer Arbiter (on right) came up with the design when selling a drum set to ‘The Beatles’ new drummer Ringo Starr(via rip Pete Best).

I feel sad that ‘The Beatles’ have ‘sold out’ and stooped 2 including a product logo as a part of their ‘act’. Seems like this is could be end of ‘The Beatles’ as we know them.

Will ‘The Beatles’ have another hit album?

Tired of 'the twist'

Earlier this decade a post DooWop dance took over in the USA. Felt like it was embraced by both old/young ppl. Blacks/whites/yellow (via-all precious in his sight) seemed to come together for this dance.

‘The twist’ was created by Hank Ballard (via the Midnighters)

It didn’t become ‘mainstream’ until popular obese signer ‘Chubby Checker’ recorded it in 1960.

Soon an instruction book was made so ppl all over could learn to ‘twist’(via 13 simple steps).

Feeling like I want ‘something more’ out of dancing/music. Feeling like I want to ‘break out’ from what my parents listen to.
